mod_perlを入れるとApacheが起動で止まってしまう症状がでてて、iMona鯖の移行ができなかったのだけど、乱数生成のメカニズムが原因だったようだ。
NetBSDでは/dev/randomという特殊なデバイスで乱数を生成させるのだが、仕様としてサーバの中のエントロピーが有る程度増大して、良質の乱数が出来るまで待たされることになっているらしい。
起動時にこの乱数を読みに行くのだが、これがなかなか出来上がらないので、起動出来ないように見えるようだ。
これを解消するにはmod_perlではなく、Apacheのほうを/dev/randomを使わないようにしなければならない罠に今まではまっていたようだ。
お勧めパターンではないようだがすぐに乱数を生成する/dev/urandomを使うようにして逃げ。
はよサイコロ振ってくれよ！という感じだ（ｗ
Apache2は下のようにコンフィグする。
configure --with-devrandom=/dev/urandom
