いろんなところで見せびらかしてますが、とりあえず本体の調教は一段落。
つーことで、使ってみた感想など。
× 出荷時状態は遅過ぎて使い物にならん
○ 要らない物を外すと、結構サクサク
まずはMcAfeeアンチウィルスが重過ぎなので、即刻アンインストール。期間限定版つけられても仕方ないよなー。
次はVAIOなんちゃらというマルチメディア系ソフトを全部削除。音楽系はiTunesにしてしまうので、SONY謹製のは要りませぬ。
Vistaのサービスも要らない物を停止。IPsec/IKE系、RPC系、デバッグ系、タブレットPC系などは止めてしまう。
ここまで一通りやると、実用品として使える速度になります。
ついでに、Vista SP2 RCも当ててしまったら、結構サクサク。システム本体はこれでWindows 7相当になるらしいので、このままVistaで行くかも。
○ WWANはそこそこ速い
× WWANとWLANの切換えが面倒かつ、時間がかかる
FOMAのデータ通信が出来るモデルにしたので、どこでもインターネット出来るのは便利ですが、無線LANと両立できず排他的に使うようになってるので、いちいち切り替えないとならんです。切換えツールはあるのだけど、切換えに数１０秒かかるのはいまいち。
× GPSは衛星の捕捉遅過ぎ
○ PlaceEngineは結構使える
WWANモデルにするとGPS機能も付いて来るのですが、GPS衛星の電波を拾って測位するまで、全天が見える環境でも数分かかります。車のダッシュボードだと全然だめ。なので、場所が分からん→VAIO開けばすぐわかるのでは？？という用途には向いてません。
一度、捕捉してしまえば車の中でも捕捉しつづけるけど、動きながらの測位は誤差が大きいみたい。隣の道路くらいの場所になってます。
一方、周りの無線LANのアクセスポイントの情報などから、場所を決めるPlaceEngineは結構正確。街中だとほぼこれだけで行けます。ただし、これを使うにはWLANが有効になってないとならないので、FOMA通信とは両立しないのが玉にきず。
× 休止状態からの復帰に時間がかかりすぎる
○ スリープ状態からの復帰は素早い
会社のPCもRAM 2GB積んでるのだけど、こっちは休止状態を使ってもサクサク。VAIOはハードディスクが遅いので、復帰時のデータ読み込みに時間がかかるようだ。これだとシャットダウンして、起動しなおすのと時間が変わらない気もする。
スリープはメモリーにデータを置きっぱなしにするで、復帰は数秒なのでおもにこちらを利用。ただし、メモリーにデータを置いておくと電気を消費するので１日くらいが限界か？
○ 軽いので持ち歩いても苦にならない
× そこそこ大きいので立ちながらは使えない
iPod TouchとかWindows Mobile機だと立ちながら使えるけど、これは無理。座れる場所があれば膝の上に広げて使えますけど。熱はさほど暑く無いので平気です。夏場はわからんですが（w。
というところで、購入を検討してる人に参考になりましたでしょうか？？
