スキャナー付プリンタです。
写真の印刷はフォトプリンタでよかったのだけど、溜まったフィルムのためにフィルムスキャナーは前から買おうかなと思ってました。久々に探したところ、専用機はモデルチェンジ無しで古いのが高いまま、フラッドベッドスキャナーはフィルム対応のCCDから安いが読めないCISに変りつつあり、ほぼ絶滅間近。複合機だとこれ一択ということで諦めてゲット！
・設置
段ボールから取り出すと本体のいたるところがテープ止めしてあるので、これを外すのが一手間。次はインクヘッドとインクカートリッジの取り付け。６色あるのでカートリッジのビニールを剥いて、フタをねじ切って、取り付けるのが結構手間。細かいゴミも一杯でるし。
パソコンとの接続はUSBの他に有線と無線LANに対応なので、ここは無線LANを選択。前のMP980は一度パソコンに接続しないと設定出来なかったらしいが、これは本体で無線LAN APのIDとパスワードを入力出来るようになったのでなんなく接続。
・ドライバーインストール
Macはわりと楽勝。付属CDのドライバーは既に古くなってるので、キヤノンのサイトからMacOS X 10.6対応の最新版をダウンロードして入れ替え。４つくらい入れ替えたよーな。
Windowsは2000は楽勝だったが、Vistaが「新規ポートの作成に失敗しました」というエラーで全く入らず。このエラーでググルと前のモデルからも出るエラーらしい。付属CDの中にある削除ツールを一度動かすといい説があったので試したところOK！んー、これのせいで深夜近くまでかかってしまった。FAQに入れるなりなんとかしろよ！＞キヤノン
・印刷
普通紙は本体下のトレーに入れるのだけど、写真画質用紙は裏のトレーを開いてそこに入れるようだ。同じ紙でも下のトレーに入れると送りムラがあって横筋が入るようだ。
画質は不満無しです。でも、印刷前のウォーミングアップに結構時間がかかるのがイラつくかも。これはフォトプリンターに負ける。
本体だけメモリーカードからの印刷のほか、携帯電話からの赤外線受信もあって、いちいち接続しないでも印刷出来るのは便利。P905iではmicro SDから本体側に画像をコピーしてから赤外線送信しなければならないようだ。
・スキャナー
普通の文書を読み込むスキャナー機能もあるけど、まずは懸案のフィルムスキャナー。
フィルムホルダーをつけるとこんな感じ。ホルダーには６コマのスリーブ状態のフィルムを入れて、上蓋を締めてスキャンします。本体だけでスキャンから印刷までできるのは超便利。補正も自動の他、色あせ、コントラスト、カラーバランスいろいろ調整可能。もはやDPE屋いらず。
古いネガやらポジを取り込んで印刷しまくってしまった。要らないのに（w。ネガと一緒に紙焼きしたのも残ってたので比較してみると、こっちのほうが旨くコントラストが出てていいかもしれない。パソコンへの取り込みに行く前に満足してしまったかも。
他にはCD/DVDへの直接印刷なんかもありますが、これは使わないだろうな〜〜。
